Course Overview

Semiconductor band theory, PN junctions, diodes, BJTs, MOSFETs, DC biasing, and small-signal low-frequency models. Curriculum Structure & Core Modules: • 1. Energy Bands in Solids, Intrinsic vs Extrinsic Semiconductors, and Doping • 2. Carrier Transport: Drift Current,...

What You'll Learn

  • Explain carrier transport (drift and diffusion) and Fermi-Dirac distribution in doped semiconductors.
  • Model the physics of PN junctions under forward, reverse bias, and breakdown conditions.
  • Design diode rectification, filtering, clipping, clamping, and Zener voltage reference circuits.
  • Analyze operating regions (cutoff, active, saturation) and DC biasing stability of BJT configurations.
  • Evaluate enhancement and depletion MOSFET characteristics and establish stable Q-points.

Requirements

  • Completion of CPE 104 and CPE 112.
